Just started Stumblin' last night - very fun.
Ipaq 3670 MiniStumbler 0.3.23 dual slot pc card jacket Orinoco Silver Garmin 12 GPS (not yet up and running, need null modem adaptor) So I have found a great new activity while taking the baby for neighborhood cruises in his stroller. I live in a huge master plan and we hit our sub division last night and another this morning. I have id'd 27 APs in two subdivisions - that's better than 15% penetration for Wi Lans, this is San Diego, but those numbers blow me away. Of those 7 have WEP. Others seem to be open. What next? Can I port these files to my pc, perhaps to an excel spread sheet for easy viewing? Or better yet to some mapping software. I have not hooked the GPS up to my PC - what desktop software is recommended? I do have an old version of topo, can that be utilized? Once I have the GPS up and running is there a decent mapping program available for the pocket PC? So I can create a more visual log? feed me, feed me....... Off topic - anyone had success with increasing range on their own Lucent RG? I would like to be able to pick up signal at a park down the street - what's a good setup for rooftop antenna? thanks all - I look forward to contributing whatever I can. eric |

I would recomend Stumbler for the PC, you can open the ministumbler file with it and save it in other formats. Which should work with Excel. New standalone Mapping program is a neat little Program by Mother As for other programs, you can get it to work with just about anything, it becomes a question of how much you would like to play with it. Delorme is coming out with a new PPC program by the way. Hope this gives you some ideas Grey |

Welcome to stumbling in San Diego. I mostly stumble North County. If you want some Topo software. I have seen copies of Garmin Maps Source Topos in some geocache sites in North County. Another cool thing to do with your GPS. www.geocaching.com |
