Got it.....

Ok I opened up my Jornada Serial data cable and noticed it is using pins 2,3,and 5. So I just made my own adapter by using 2 male DB9 ends, I just joined pin2 to 3, pin 3 to 2, and pin 5 to 5.

Pluged the gps and data cable together, opened a session in vxHPC. I could now see the raw data. I closed the session, than opened Pocket Streets 2002 and was able to use the GPS function.

Jornada 568

Just got a Jornada 568 last night, I see that there is a PC Card adapter to use wi-fi, guess I can add the GPS via serial since I'm using the sole slot, maybe make this a complete unit in and of iteself with no need for an external GPS...when you hash this out let me know I'll buy the cleaned up version.

set up

Today I received all the sxtra toys for my 568. I got the PC card adapter F2912A, an Orinoco Gold card, a 64mb mmc card, the usb cradle and the keyboard. Sux that I cannot have the keyboard on and charge, nor can I have the pc card adapter on and use the usb cradle. I may send the cradle back and just use the usb cable instead, and I am finding limited uses for my keyboard. Hmmm, the keyboard also covers the slot on the bottom of the unit where the gps would connect, okay out the keyboard goes!

Now I need the GPS and I'm set. Ministumbler picked up two APs already, gotta tarck 'em down

Okay quick question.

I have my Jornada 568, cables, and Garmin Etrex Legend. When I started it up all appeared well but ministumbler could not find the GPS. I figured it's a com port thing. I switched ports, it kept saying GPS Timeout until I got to one port and it said GPS waiting. At that time I realized I was not set to NMEA but to the default Garmin protocol on the GPS. I unplugged the GPS, set it to NMEA and now have the entoire setup together again...

Except that ministumbler locks on startup. I have reloaded and reset the PDA to no avail.

I'm sure some of you pros have had this happen. Any ideas? (I bet I missed something obvious!)

Disregard above, I'm set! Now to get the custom jacket with a slot on each sleeve for the PDA and GPS.

do I have to make my own adapter to get this to work? I have the same setup but would rather buy something than hack something together.. (my soldering skills aren't that hot)
