Mini Stumbler Setups
I am using Mini Stumbler on an IPAQ 3765 with PPC 2002 pre sp1. It works just as well as it's namesake from what I can tell. It would be nice to get an "found ap" alert sound though, but other than that it seems prety nice. I am running JSLandscape also which allow 640 X 480 resolution. I can almost see all the columns if I slide them over just right. I have a picture of my setup here. as well as a review of the software.

IPAQ setup
I see from your article that you have the Lucent card installed in the IPAQ... can you also connect a GPS (serial based) to these units? I'm not all that familiar with them.... I am hoping that marius will get a version of Mini that will work with my IBm Workpad (CE).

GPS
Yeah you can install a GPS with this setup. I think am going to pick up the Pharos GPS Kit http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/gadgets/58db.shtml
What I plan on doing next is to use the Pharos GPS and IPAQ for my AP mapping then export the NS1 file into mappoint using StumbVerter so my maps will be full color and have street level zoom. Plus I have been making "manual entry" notes on the AP locations I am finding so I can map them more accurately down to their exact building location. It's a labor of love I guess! intermec 6651
Im running an Intermec 6651 HPC, it has WinCE 3.0, mipps, CF port, pcmcia type 2 port, usb, and serial port. I have placed mini stumbler on it running with a Orinoco gold card. i am also running a Haicom GPS CFcard from the CF port. it is giving great readings. the only problem i have now is the 64mb base memory in the unit. i would use one of the ports (CF or PCMCIA) for my extra memory. but now i am restricted to the 64mb internal to run maps and programs.
I would like to know if there is a PCMCIA expansion slot e.g. male in and expand to two females so i could then use this as a double card slot.? Would it work?? |

My setup... in the mail....
I have a iPAQ 3765 PPC2k. I have a PCCard sleeve but am taking it back for the dual sleeve one. I just ordered an Compaq WL110 from CompUSA. That will work... right? I have a Pharos GPS to connect to the serial port, a PCCard-to-CF adapter w/ 128Mb card, and the WL110.
Can anyone tell me if this setup will work? Will the adapter and the nic fit in the dual sleeve? |

got my setup
I got my WL110 from FedEx and got the dual PCCard sleeve FOR MY Ipaq 3765. Ministumbler immediately detected my 3com airconnect AP. I set the AP to factory settings, DHCP, and to allow roaming connections. This is neat. I have 3 3com AirConnect PC Cards also, but they do not work with netstumbler (as per the readme file).
Well, now I'm going to fiddle with the WEP settings on the AP and on my iPAQ. Any suggestions for sites detailing how to secure your AP? I downloaded the 2.0v cd from the 3com site. I also connected to the web browser UI for the AP via the iPAQ and changed some of the settings. Its neat changing the AP via the iPAQ. I live in a remote area and don't plan on doing much wardriving in my area but just playing with the WL110 and the AP is fun. Sitting on the couch and using VNC on the iPAQ is pretty neat too. Tomorrow I'm going into the city (San Bernardino) with my Pharos GPS to see if there isn't anything to log. I wish I had some cool topo maps. I hope I can contribute to the site and the forums. Wish me luck. |
