One additional word of advise. Orinoco seems to want the drivers and firmware to match. And you cannot update the firmware in a PPC. You'll need to use your notebook, or desktop to do this. And with Orinoco being sold, it might be a good idea to get any and all drivers and firmware while you can.

Grey Wolf,

That's what I'm doing right now. While stumbling to this forum, I read that news.

Cheers.

I d/l'ed + installed the WLCE3074.exe file a couple months ago but I'm not sure if I have all the latest stuff for my Orinoco nic and I don't have a notebook/desktop with a PC Card slot. Namely, are my Primary and Station Firmware Versions up to date?

Here's my info:

Looks great to me. I'd say your running winter 2002 Software, and your firmware looks like your card is brand new.

Nifty.

But what, exactly, is Primary firmware? 4.4 makes no sense to me in this case.

I'm guessing here, but Primary firmware seems to be a kind of batch Firmware. That seems to be adjust by the factory ever so often. Or perhaps this reports the type of system that last program the card. If this is correct, then your card would have been last updated on an XP system. This never seems to change. The Station firmware seem to be the code actually written to the card.

No, the only ones with the new connectors are the 3800s. The 3700s are basically 3600s with more memory sans the dust problem.

The single PC card sleeves also have a power jack. In fact, I always use that jack as opposed to the one of the iPaq itself. I figure is a surge is going to blow something out, better the sleeve than the iPaq.

If you go for a 3800 series (possibly the 3700s as well) the sync port and power jack are one and the same. The 3600s have the two separate however.

I own a 3635 and it has worked flawlessly for me. No freezing, no range reduction, nothing. I pick up the same AP's with my laptop as I do with the IPAQ. Dunno what the deal is with all of yours. Mine only has 32meg ram and 16meg rom, and PPC2k runs great.
