PocketLan CE blows. I used it fro about a day before I got irritated by it.
go to www.vieka.com and download PE Explorer Suite 5.0. It's the ONLY (and I stress ONLY) software that allows WindowsCE 3.0 PocketPCs to map drives (with no assistance from a host PC). PocketLan uses a host PC to accomplish this which makes it pretty useless if you are outside of the network that your PC THAT HAS TO BE RUNNING ACTIVESYNC is on. It has full file explorer capability with the additions of PocketZip, FTP, and Drive Mapping. I have been using it for awhile now and it's never asked me to register and all functions work. If you merely want to map drives, you can get PE Net but you might as well get the whole package as it's about the same file size... -Mc |

Resco only allows it on PocketOS 2002 (which already has the functionality in the first place). Someone else told me that and I checked. In fact, I don't think the latest version even supports PocketOS 3.0 (mips).
On PocketOS 3.0 (a.k.a. 2000), it was not included and NOBODY else either cared enough to do it or was able to figure it out. -Mc |

On Resco, PocketLanCE, etc.
My experience is that Resco's File Explorer is the only app that will show you a window with ALL PCs and their shared drives before you map onto them - thus making life a lot easier. With the other programs, you need to know beforehand where to point your mapped drive.
FE does this by ARPing the local subnet, and interrogating the live IPs it finds. It then shows the usual Windows network tree with PCs and drives, just click on the one you want to share, and you're done. If you click on a PC and then 'Share' it will map all available drives/folders on that PC. Regarding this being available in PocketPC 2002 only, I don't know, I flashed my 3660 to PPC2002 before trying FE... Just MHO, Mother |
