Socket WLAN Compact Flash Card

Hello,

Im planning on purchasing this card (WL6001-356) but would like to know if this card is based on the Hermes chipset such and if it will work with ministumbler

Does anyone know what chipset the Socket Compact Flash Wireless Ethernet Card (WL6001-356) uses or any other compact flash WiFi cards that will work with ministumbler with my iPAQ?

Thankyou

I'll try to get to you before blackwave does and consequently scares the !@#$ out of you .

This question has been asked 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times before. Right now there is no support for CF cards of any type. It may be built in to NS/MiniNS in the future but as that program is maintained by only one individual, only time can tell.

mini stumbler (and netstumbler for that matter) don't care whether it's CF or PCMCIA, it's all about the chipset. The reason no CF card is supported right now is because there isn't a CF card out that is hermes based.

The LinkSys CF card is a PRISM card. Where did you read it was hermes?

I know it was Prism, but as far as I know, Socket doesn't have a single licensing agreement with Agere. Without that, there's no way they have a hermes based card.

I'll ask again. Where did you hear that it was hermes based? I checked Socket's website and couldn't find any mention of it in the specs of the card and I looked through all the press releases and didn't see any mention of a deal with Agere. I also searched Agere's site and didn't see any partnering agreement with Socket.

If it's Hermes based, it will work fine with ministumbler (and will also use the Orinoco drivers)...
