Has anybody figured out if you can have sound in miniStumbler like in NetStumbler? I would like it to play a sound when a network is found....

Sound in MiniNS
Might want to use the search button cuz this question has been asked about 100 times - just alittle warning before others jump in here! [GRIN]
lesse... if memory serves me correctly, you the wav file in the \windows directory. It can be any sound that you want but it has to be named IR_begin.wav (or whatever that infared wav file is called) I have a file called newmessage.wav that I use with an amateur radio prgm and I just renamed it. Nice to know you have found a new Ap without having to check the screen often! |

make sure you convert the ir_begin.wav to PCM first before transferring to the ppc...it can't play ADPCM, which is the format the file on desktop Windows uses. I converted mine to 16-bit mono and it works fine. 8-bit sounded a bit too scratchy for me.

Thanks lincomatic!
That explains all of my problems, the WAV files I was trying from Windows were mostly ADPCM, and even the best sound I found was scratchy and mostly inaudible Anybody have any particularly good sounds that work well with the cheesy speaker built into the iPaq?
