Question 1 AP, 2 Hardware Firewalls and me confused - Help

Here is my ideal setup

cable modem ---> Linsys router WAN port ---> AP into open port ---> Uplink port into WAN port of second Linksys router-->LAN connected to second routers ports.

Now obviously the hardware firewalls are behind the WAN port in both routers. In order to connect the routers together and take advantage of both firewalls, do I need a crossover cable to go from the uplink port into the WAN port of the second router?

Or will this not work at all?

TIA!

As long as it's an uplink port, a crossover cable should NOT be required.

I'm not familiar with the Linksys router, but if it lets you set the ip addressing scheme, it should work just fine. You would of course need to have each router using a different subnet - but you already knew that right?

Someone posted this link to a thread on the board, but I can't seem to find that thread.

Anyway - it's got some interesting diagrams, including ip addressing schemes that you would need to modify.

What you're suggesting is just a wee bit different to this configuration

Your welcome - but the person who deserves both your thanks & mine, is the guy who originally posted it.
