20 Dollar HERMES cards
ebay has several auctions of Cabletron/Enterasys CSIBD-AA (Silver equivalent) starting at $20 with no reserve.
To find these on eBay, you need to search for Cabletron, Enterasys, RoamAbout etc. Then further look at the sellers online stores and their other items...not everything pops up in a straight search... The following link is such an example: http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...sort=3&rows=25 There are also Cabletron/Enterasys versions of the Lucent Range Extender antenna for as low as $19.95+shipping. |

one note...the pictures of some of the $20 cards show part number CSIBB-AA, which is NOT CSIBD-AA. The CSIBB card products are apparently for the Russian market and I am not certain if this is the expanded 13 or 14 channel cards or more limited like France or Israel...OR EVEN WORSE this may be older 802.11 cards (2mbps) not 802.11b.
Acceptable part numbers for 11mbps 802.11b from Cabletron/Enterasys are: CSIBD-AA USA CSIBD-AB Europe/Asia Pacific CSIBD-AJ Japan CSIBD-AF France Also at http://www.enterasys.com/roamabout/indoor/ you can see the CSISA-AX adapter that allows you to add wireless to any PC with an ethernet card via this proprietary bridging adapter. Nice thing is that the Enterasys stuff is true Multi-protocol, not just IP. These are on ebay for as low as $125. Caveat Emptor Last edited by TIntruder : 06-08-2002 at 12:04 AM. |
