aargh! wireless and 2wire help needed
I have a dell laptop, 1350 NIC and 2wire 1800hg portal. Works fine with wpa configured most of the time, but every morning I try to boot up and log in, get a good strong signal, yet no isp. try ping, no joy. check portal, and network light is out. if I go and physically connect with ethernet, I get isp. disconnect, and go back to the bedroom, no isp. takes a couple reboots, resetting stuff, and finally good to go and it works fine all day. then, same thing after a couple hours of non-use. it's like the wirless connect goes to sleep or something and can't jumpstart the network. jump start with ethernet, and everything is cool. what a pain! anyone have any ideas? it's kinda making me nuts....

been there, done that
Ummm, I have not only been there, but I have been online with 2wire tech support for weeks. They can't figure it out either. So I thought maybe some wizard here would know more than they do...and be able to supply a functional answer. It just happened again......couldn't find the isp. host unreachable. had to cable up to get it going again. Other than a link to what I've already tried, any ideas???????

Wow! It's working fine...woohoo
Well, I found some advice somewhere (read so much I can't remember) and (although I have heard bad things) I downloaded sp2. I removed the dell wireless software, the 2wire software, and all the SBC crap from the cd. I disabled the internal wireless card for the upgrade. Then, after the upgrade, I enabled wireless and rebooted. Bam! Not to get too far ahead, but it's two days and working great! No disconnects, no slowdowns, and great speed. Don't know if it was all the above or just part of it, but who cares? Thanks for the help and input; it's nice to know there's people out there who will try to help us less-than-knowledgeable folks.
