Ad-hoc gaming
This is maybe a little off-topic; hard to tell, but I've seen nothing crisp on the forums here nor even on the Web at large. Has anyone here gotten together with a few other guys and tried some network gaming around the dining room table, all on laptops running in ad-hoc mode?
I'm not much of a gamer myself, though I did play Quake some when it first came out years ago, and again when I got broadband. It would be interesting to see what the game is like when *everybody* is a low-ping bastard... I'm really curious about interesting applications of ad-hoc mode. Gaming is one--and if any others have been tried I'd like to hear about them. --73-- --Novilio |

Novilio,
I've played Quake II on my LAN, not as an Ad-Hoc. It works fine. It IS fun when everyone is a LPB. Try a LAN party sometime - wired or wireless. ![]()
