amps

Anyone ever used a inline amp on their rig?
Anyone ever tried to build a homebrew AMP?

I saw them on the fab-corp site. They are quite expensive.

the amp doesn't sound too bad to put together...is anyone marketing the pcb's for this???

wondering about how adversely it would affect the receiving of the card though?

i've put amps together for commercial radio uhf applications but they were significantly higher power (in and out) but this particular amp would have to be pretty sensitive - 30mW+ needed to trigger the amp....hmmm.......

concerned about filtering out the dirty rf mess the amp would make - you may have to really shield the little beast....

Ya know, with this amp...

...you can only have a 6 dBi antenna connected for it to be legal.

1 Watt Parts......

Well I suck at making my own circut board for this project. I found a company that makes the boards for this project and the price is great $3.50 http://www.farcircuits.net/rfpa2.htm#7rfpa. I just ordered some new boards and shold have them on saturday. Total cost now is less than $25.

Guess we all know now how your going to spend your Saturday.

If it works out well would you be willing to fabricate one for me? Parts $$ plus some $$ for you?

Would like to have one to play with.

Question

Does the RF2126 also increase sensitivity on the receive side ? If it does, does it automatically change from transmit to receive mode?

Waiting for the Board

My project is on hold untill I recieve my board. In the mean time I picked up a Jornada 568 Pocket PC along with the PCMCIA adaptor. Sunday night when I got back I drove around down town seattle a stumbled on a few APs that I have not seen with my laptop. Now my addiction is really going to get bad, when I got home I had to go back out to the store and guess what came with me, hehehe.

This project is a linear amp. If you need designs for a bidirectional amp check out this site http://www.qsl.net/n9zia/wireless/ . When we are finished we will be building a bidirectional.

I am hoping to finish the project by this weekend so I can post the results. The guys I am working with are also making some great 5dbi omni and 12dbi yagi antennas. The plan is to sell the antennas and throw in a free prebuilt 1watt amp.

$50 for the omni
$75 for the yagi

Ok so why the dancing AV? To much Caffeine
