Actually what amuses me is his threat
"If you do not read this carefully, negative feedback will be left" Threats of any sort, just turn me off, and I'll go buy what I need from a more pleasant person, even at a higher price. |

Dood,
It's a FREE COUNTRY. Free enterprise, and competition are what makes it all good for us. How do you know its a piece of shit. Do you have any personal experiences with it?? If you do, then tell us your experiences. Have you ever made a pringles can?? As far as home made cans go, this guys looks pretty polished (on the outside anyways) and if you had bothered to look up the original guys ratings, you would see that he has decent feedback about his antenna and no negative comments. Look here I dont mean to start a flame war but I think you made your point in the first post. Your second "Yet another one" post was EXACTLTY the same ebay item as in your first post... uhhh.. check a little more carefully next time OK? /flamesuiton Last edited by rerunn : 08-03-2002 at 03:47 PM. |

In fact - just for the heck of it - I went through the feedback - I tell you - boredom is a terrible thing. Anyway eBay only let me look at 50 - and out of those - 40 were sales, only 14 of which were antennas. I also notice he bought himself a minimag! Maybe he should have a chat with eBay about privacy ![]() |

I am not saying his pringles can nock off is a POS.
I am saying the SELLER (uhh I guess he could be reading this) is a POS for nocking off someone ELSES ideas and then making a profit off of it. Look at the bottom of this if there is any doubt: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2025529586 |

btw, the pringles guy is the same one i pointed out before. but the omni is new. i've alerted brian oblivion about it. the thing that irks me the most is the guy who is selling the omni also posted a URL about a review of the antenna...and it's by him!
hardly an impartial review talking about his own product.

BUT
And don't get me wrong here - because guerrila.net is the first place I saw that co-linear - and I thought Brian's design was great, in fact, it's the first 2.4 GHz antenna I built and I still can't figure out why mine doesn't perform - but isn't there a suggestion in this thread that it's a knock-off of a commercial design too?

true, i sparafina & i think it's a knockoff. but the ebay guy ripped off gnet's JPG files of the design. that is copyright infringement. and it just irks me when i see homebrews being passed off as having some rated dBi w/o actual testing w/ REAL TEST EQUIPMENT like SWR meter, etc. especially with this particular design. it's so easy to mess it up slightly and ruin the performance as we both know. mine sucked at first, too, but my 2nd attempt was a lot better after i figured out what i was really supposed to do. did you see my writeup on it? http://www.geocities.com/lincomatic/collinear.html

lincomatic,
I can say first hand your second attempt, http://www.geocities.com/lincomatic/collinear.html was a success. Sparafina and I used his during the wardrive at defcon yesterday, we also had an 5.5db mag mount omni, 24db parabolic, and a pringles. The collinear picked up i'd say about 25% more ap's then what we could find otherwise. Nice job, can't wait to get home and finish mine. |

I'll probably mount it in the stairwell and hook it up to my AP - that should give enough range to use my laptop anywhere in the yard. Now - this thread got me thinking - and since what I'm thinking about doesn't fall under hardware - let's take it over to the Off-Topic forum Last edited by fordem : 08-04-2002 at 01:13 PM. |

i like this antenna. i think most people who didn't have luck probably were just a little off in the assembly like we were. i want to try one with more sections next.
