Antenna Comparison...

Just thought I'd post this, I took it from about 5 feet...
BTW these are all from an Orinoco Gold.

1. Stock Orinoco Gold, no antennas (Internal)
2. Pringles Cantenna I made.
3. Similar canntenna that I made but has dimensions of about 4" diameter, 18.25 in length. Beefaroni or something like that...
4. 8 dBi gain Omni directional (Mobile, mag mount, with MC connector and 6 feet of LMR-100 I believe) from HyperLink Tech.
5. Directional Patch Antenna, from Fab-corp, I think its something like 16 or 19 dBi.

2 3 and 5 all used a 12 in pigtail (N male - MC)

Any thoughts?

No big surprises there, though the "8dBi" omni did surprisingly poorly.

Unless you are testing antennas against an access point some distance away through free space and without nearby reflecting surfaces, it is difficult to accurately compare antenna gain.

But hey, keep experimenting - thats part of the fun.
