trying to get an estimate of my homemade 18 element omni aerial
not sure how to calculate this info
i tested both my aerial and a aerial with known dbi value all with cisco gear at UNI these are the results

connected to Cisco Aironet 1200 AP in roof via Cisco Aironet 350 PCI card
not sure of its alignment
when testing both aerials had them horizonaly placed on top of the computer screen

Testing on cisco client software using site survey tool these are the results

tested on 5.14dbi CUSHCROFT OMNI
Signal Strenth (DBm) ranging between -49 and -55

Signal to Noise Ratio: 41

Essentially, it looks like your getting the same results. Therefore it would seem to be about 5dBi.
