Antenna Questions

Ok. I purchased a MiG24WAVE from http://www.antennasystems.com/broadband.html

It says it's a 4.5dbi antenna, but when I connect it to my card the signal strength seems to drop considerably. Is this normal? I should mention that when I went out with it the first night I got it, I picked up AP's that I had previously never saw. Unfortunately, I still have to drive around parking lots to pick up some stuff. It would be nice to pick up everything from the street.

For the money that you paid for the lil antenna you got there, you could have spent 10 bucks more and got the unenclosed 15 db Yagi antenna

i have a 14db enclossed yagi antenna from hyperlinktech and well it kicks some serious ass for long range war driving.

this lil one that you have is probbaly not quite up to par to do anything long range and thus you have to be REALLY close to the access point to get a connection.

its come down quite a bit in price, i orderd mine way back in april/may time frame.

Im going to get the 24db parabolic next.
