Antenna upgrade = downgrade???

I bought three 7dBi omni antennas to upgrade the existing ones on three Netgear WG602s. They were quite cheap, and unfortunately it seems I got what I paid for. After testing them individually, I can conclude that all three of them are significantly worse than the existing 2dBi antennas on the WG602s. I tried them both directly screwed into the APs and mounted on the magnetic bases via the included thin cable. Same result.

I doubt that all three just happened to be defective. Is there anything basic I'm missing here? Shouldn't these antennas work on my APs? Or did I just buy junk?

Here's a link to the antennas I bought:

1.50 m long cable
Imagine pumping 100w at 2.4ghz out of that POS.

Wow, didn't expect replies that fast. Thanks! So how can I avoid buying crap next time? Do I have to buy a major brand? I considered this before my purchase, but figured that antennas aren't rocket science. Apparently I was wrong ...

Anyone have any recommendations for a good indoor omni antenna that won't bankrupt me? Something I could find in Europe please.

Go by brand. If you don't go by brand, go by price. Antennae are one of those things in life where you get exactly what you pay for.

You might want to read this: Cheap Antenna FAQ was well as the rest of the Antenna FAQs.
