Anyone got a source for those 100mw cisco 352 PCMCIA cards?
I remmeber reading a while back on the BAWUG.org website that the best/bad ass mofo PCMCIA adapter card is the cisco 352 series card.
Why? Because it has a 100mw internal powersource and thus allows you to get greater range and better connection. So whats the problem? You can only buy that card in a 40 pack. The thing costs nearly 200 bucks, so not too many 'regular' folk can pony up the 8 grand to buy just one of em. Was wondering if anyone found a source that has a few for sale, or if there is some interesting doin a group buy through a reputable vendor? anyone? anyone? bueller? |

air-pci352
What you want is an air-lmc352 but, as mentioned, they come in 40 packs. However, you can also get these cards by ordering the air-pci352 that are the PCI cards with external antennas for desktop systems. These PCI cards have the same pc card LMC352 cards on them with the mmcx connectors for external antennas. They are a little pricey this way ($260 or so). But at least you don't have to buy 40 of them! Charlie |

Oh - and I can confirm the that the PCI352 will not work out of the board. I was quoted 179+VAT for the PCI version anyway - so went for a Orinoco ISA adapter for 47 quid instead.
N.B. The ISA/PCI adapters for the netgear/dlink/etc. cards are not true PCMCIA adapters and you need custom drivers (which are obviously not available for a Cisco). |

I received my AirPCM 352 Card today. The card's antenna is very slim. The reason being: NO EXTERNAL ANTENNA PORT.
After installing the card I could not get it to work or connect to my Linksys AP. After much fiddling and reloading drivers I remembered that I had enabled MAC filtering on the AP. DUH! After adding the MAC ID of the 352 I was able to browse the Web and access my network. The included client utility is great. More features and options than you can shake a stick at, including the ability to dial back RF power from 100 mW to 50, 30, 20, 5, and 1 mW outputs. This card sucks power at 100 mW RF - 600 mA of power draw at 5 volts according to the specs. Receive characteristics of the this card seem fantastic. I went to a spot in my house where my ORiNOCO card usually has a hard time connecting. Not a problem with the 352. I cranked back the RF output to 5 mW and was able to keep surfing the web and play streaming audio. Finally, I fired up Netstumber. No Wireless Card Found. ![]() Pros: Svelte Package, Great Client Utility, High RF output, sensitive receive, variable RF output Cons: No External Antenna Connector, Does not work with Netstumbler |

I bought one from EMSCOMPUTING $157.00
Little hard to find search for AIR-PCM352 Not real good with order confirmation and a little slow to ship but good price and product. This is a great card compared to the linksys and dlink. I get much more reception at the same distance. |

Remember PCM == pcmcia for notebook
LMC == PCI/ISA for desktop As of currently I have not found any drivers that will allow for the LMC to be used by itself in a 'normal' pcmcia slot. No play, no go, no find, nada. When I last checked they did not have a USB version available either. I am currently still leaning toward the Lucent Orinoco USB Gold card. Best of all worlds. Can pop it open and pull out a perfectly working pcmcia card if you wanted. But that is just my opinion. John K. P.S. If you know of drivers to enable the LMC to work please share. My postings are only from what 'I' know, they do not necessarily mean it is the reality of the situation. :-) |
