Building wireless net. already have Senao200mW pcmcia

I am building a wireless network and i need help on what router to pick. i want something that will do good with the senao card i bought does it matter if i pay $30 for a cheap one or should i spend more??

since i purchased the 200mW 2511plus with ext. 2db ant. does it matter if i get a cheap router.

it will be a home network, one desktop and one laptop. which routers offer the best security for $70 or less. are they mostly the same. thanks for any help

Anyway... yea almost any AP will work. Just remeber your AP has to Transmit and recieve as does your Senao. So going for high power on one and chincing out on another does you no good.

Do a quick site survey.

Go buy a SMC, Netgear, or Linksys.... Make sure you visit the manufactures site and download any new firmware for the AP.

Then read the FAQ here on how to secure it.

And why did you buy the Senao with the external antenna?

Are there any APs that are harder for NS to pick up on. I've read a little on it in some of the forums.

I got a crazy good deal on the senao pcmcia and two 2db stub ant.. I like the fact that if i want to I can upgrade the ant. and the 200mW doesn't hurt either.

What kind of upgrade ant. for the AP would anyone recommend if any.

thanks

NS will not pick up AP's that have the SSID broadcast turned off.

Other than that all 802.11b AP's put out the same type of signal no matter what the manufactuar is.

With the kind of questions you are asking I wouldn't be moddifying your ap until you get a firmer grasp on the technology.

and you do understand that you have to have that external antenna attached at all times to use that card right? It doesn't have an internal antenna at all, kinda sux for non-stumbling activity.

You also should be aware that the Senao is not a supported card for NS

ok...

firmer grasp on the technology i'll have to try that.

as far as the card goes. i can be up to 30ft away from an AP and still pick it up fine with no ant. attached. if i start to lose it then i just snap in the little 2db stub.

NS seems to be working fine with the Senao card. i can pick up 3 AP from out front of my house with only a stub ant.

thank you for all your info

Yes, it is working using the NDIS driver, but may be funtioning a reduce levels, and all the NS options may not work right.

Oh s#%$...

It works with the prism driver but it seems to see the AP then is doesn't. Why does it do that? Which driver is better?

How can i tell if i'm not running at full levels and if my options aren't working correctly?

I don't like that S&^%

Thanks,

The ONLY way to ensure that a card is working correctly, 100% of the time is to use a SUPPORTED CARD as per the README.
