Apple Airport In a Windows/Unix Environment

Good Morning,

I was wonderign if someone could help me out a bit. I have been looking into buying an AP recently and have decide decided on the 128bit Apple Airport.

I dont have any Mac based computers and am wondering hom much this will hinder me when configuring the AP, I know there are a number of windows/java based config tools that can be used. But are there any features I may be missing out on by not having a Mac to config the AP

Does any one use the Airport in this sort of environment, what are your experiences?

i haven't used airport in a long time, nor the win32 airport config program so i'm not sure if they've added anything new in the last year, but when i did use it there weren't any key features that were left out. personally i like the base station, back when i had dial up it would've been really handy. ironic that apple is using a 486 chip in it. =)

Mixed network & Airport

You shouldn't have any problems with running and config'ing an Apple Airport basestation. There are Wintel admin controls. Basically to run in WEP 128 mode, you just need to input the correct name of the closed network.

I've installed many Airport networks, many of those are mixed PC/Mac and they all get along just fine.

I'm looking for the same thing. So far all I can tell is that I'll have to do some editing of an NS export file, then past that into a Garmin compatible .txt file.

Do you use Garmin Map Source? There is functionality for importing waypoints, but nothing straight out of an .ns1 file.

hope this helps!
