(CABLE MODEM)->(AP/WLAN/ROUTER)->(Wired Clients) (WiFi Clients) I am sure you aware of the Linksys EtherFast® Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router w/4-Port Switch http://www.linksys.com/Products/prod...id=23&prid=173 which is what I have for one of my favorite bundled aps... not too sure what types of problems you may be having to get the tiny range you are getting that you posted here: http://forums.netstumbler.com/showth...&threadid=2743

What I do...
I have dual boot PC with two NIC cards in it, with internet connection sharing enabled in both XP and Linux. (Mandrake 8.1) The LinkSys WAP11 is connected to the 2nd NIC with a CROSSOVER cable. You can use a cheapy hub also, but a crossover cable is all you need. I like to keep the extra crap down to a minimum.

If you're setting up a home network , this is an excellent site for information on setups, product reviews, and user comments. I think that this site gives a broader view than this forum which is focused on stumbling wireless networks. http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ |
