It looks from the web site info that the adapter listed is designed to connect the Axim to a Deluo Universal GPS. Can't tell from the pictures if the Deluo has the same type of connector as the eTrex. There are a couple of threads covering GPS to Axim configurations, you'll have to do the searching though.

This link was copied from the Deluo FAQ page.

Deluo Universal GPS pinout

It shows the pinout diagram for the Deluo Universal GPS and Ps/2 cable ends...compare it to your Etrex's pinout...if it's a match then the "hardware" should work.

However, whatever software is used will need to know where to look for the NMEA datastream...will the Axim's software know where to find the NMEA datastream from your GPS?

Hope this helps...

I have one of these adapters. I used it with my Axim X5 to hook to the universal GPS. It worked flawlessly. Only problem is, I sold my X5 and bought an X3i. Now I need a new adapter.
