Best Cantenna

In your guy's opinion, what do you think is the best cantenna out there? I've seen the Cookie Cantenna, the Pringles Cantenna, and the one's I've seen for sale on www.cantenna.com . If you have more please post them. I am looking to build my own, and was wondering what has the best gain. Also, what do you believe is the easiest, whether from experience or from articles. If you have any links, please post them also.

Thank You!

Yes, I have, I was just wondering what is everybody's favorite out of all of them. Like, does everybody agree on one that wipes the other away, or what.

No. You'll have to make your own decision on this one.

I've got a homemade 6db omni, which becomes 9db due to roof mirror effect.

In any case, it is infinitely better than getting RSI aiming the antenna around as the passenger in the car. Also, that 6db is actual measured db over a dipole.

Guerilla.net has an article posted on making an omni antenna, and though the guide is a little lacking in construction tips, it gets the job done.

Lol, guess thats right! I decided to make the Cookie cantenna, it supposedly has 15-18db. Im guessing that means signal gain? Am I right? I ordered the cable and connector from fab-corp.com Can't wait till it gets here

Yes. Signal gain.

(Think about this. What else would it be?)

None of the simple cantennas will give you near 15-18 dbi gain. 8-10 dbi is more like it.

WRT "Read this", I did. I also built that antenna myself. While it does work very well, in my testing its real gain is a good 4 dB BELOW a commercial Yagi design, the Cushcraft PC2415N that is advertised at 14 dBd (which is 16 dBi).

That would put the referred to cantenna modified with the 4" to 6" reducer at about 12 dBi gain. That is 2 dB better than the commercial cantenna I also compared (from Etherdesigns), but still not 15 dBi.
