Money is always an issue...you could easily blow through a couple grand on a setup. Mine's starting to push 1G now...and that's just the overall hardware costs.
Assuming your software is legit, you could go from zero (running linux and all the goodies) to $500+ (XP w/ MP2k2, SA9.0, etc.) without breaking a sweat. Let me get back to you with a laundry list of goodies. ![]()

The orinoco gold works great, I have one.
The mobile mag mount antenna i have is this one: http://www.fab-corp.com/pdf/minimag.pdf ( I have the 5dBi model) You can get the pigtail from fab-corp also. Not sure on GPS, I have a Garmin GPS12 and it works just fine.
