Question best non-pcmcia?

Hello.
I am building a mini-itx box for my car, and i was wondering what the BEST either USB or PCI wireless adaptor is. I have a orinoco gold classic with 14.4dB yagi and i want to be able to use the antenna on the desktop with the same signal strength as the orinoco pcmcia.

thank you

ps: the wireless adaptor should obviusly be compatible with netstumbler

If you have an open PCI slot you should be able to use your Orinoco card with a PCI-PCMCIA adapter card. Just slide in your Orincoco. I've used this setup HUNDREDS of times. Get the Richo chipset adapter from Fab-Corp.com. Their price has doubled for some reason. They were usually around 35 bucks. If it's too spendy, you can find them cheaper than that if you look hard enough.

Search

Damn... Why is it so difficult to use the search function? This has been asked a few times and has been discussed a few times. Try searching for "USB or PCI wireless adaptor" you will be amazed at what you will learn. Of course if you want to be hand-fed you have come to the wrong place.

The FAQ lists a dell truemobile 1150 mini pci? dont know if that would be suitable. Other suggestion would be a pci to pcmcia adaptor and slot a standard orinoco or other hermes chipset clone of it into the adaptor.
I have heard of some difficulties in some cases when I have done a search on the subject myself.

best idea is to do a search on the subject and you may find some more stuff thats really helpful. (also avoiding the wrath of the moderators).

Good luck in your project...paul
