Calling Australia: OEM GPS Bulk Buy !
Would anyone be interested in this in australia?
It looks like the first one would be the easiest interface to build, but then again my knowledge of electronics is quite sparse... http://www.bgmicro.com/lmad4.htm with this http://www.bgmicro.com/pdf/acs1394.pdf interface. OR http://www.bgmicro.com/lmad.htm with this interface http://www.bgmicro.com/pdf/acs1397.pdf www.madstoft.com |

Having recently built a functioning GPS NMEA protocol emulator that I can use with NS, and looking at the two different systems you listed, the first one that has a patch antenna and the ability to re-flash the firmware to NMEA output is most likely the "easiest" to interface to your laptop or pda.

For the parts that they identify for interface, the 5 volt regulator is pretty standard. I assume they selected the Max233 instead of the max232, so that you don't need as many capacitors, but as long as you provide RS232 output from the GPS almost any system can read it.
This company sells the regulator and a max232 chip. http://www.iguanalabs.com/ordrprts.htm |

Thanks for your comments Zev.
I'm still wondering if it is worth the trouble. Currently checking out the GPS modules at www.rojone.com.au . Getting my 8021.11b card from Harris Tech next week + pig tails from Rojone ![]() If you are in Sydney check out the cheap rebranded Lucent cards (Avaya) at www.HT.com.au .They are only 99 AUD (50 US). http://www.ht.com.au/Scripts/xworks.exe?PART:F2031#Tof Any comments/problems with these cards anyone? |
