CF Netgear MA701 innards
I finally popped the cover off my CF card to see if it could be hacked to add an antenna jack. I don't think my SMT skills are strong enough to tackle this one. Maybe the pics will be useful for some of you.

I can tell you thats the same card as the D-link 660w, I tracked down the actual manucture, Z com inc. I believe its the 815 but I would have to check their site again, I am also trying to find that connector. Following the traces it is an antenna connector but what type??? Hopefully will find out soon.
Damn good little cards though. |

What you are looking at is mostly likely an antenna jack. Looks just like the ones on the internal wireless NICs we have in Dell and IBM laptops at work. I had to replace one that went bad once. The internal antennas end in little caps that snap onto the Round Onboard Thingie (highly technical term).

Yeah, I've since learned that it's a u-FL connector made by Hirose. Digi-Key and some of the other electronic distributors can supply pigtails by special order, as can Netgate. Thanks for reminding me to update this thread.

Ther is actually a 40 EUR price difference between the cards, so i would opt for the D-Link, but only if i know, that the u.fl. connector is in place. /Marlow |
