Change Allowed Channels of a WG511T

I bought a WG511T in the US and got the card all set up and working fine. Now I am in Brazil and need to use one of the upper channels that isn't allowed in US, channel 13 more specifically. When the card was set up I chose the US as my locale, which limited me from the upper channels. Is there a way to flash the card to allow using these higher frequencies?

Is there a way to show usable channels in XP?

Thanks,
m

Can you just delete the settings and then reinstall?

In XP, on the properties of the connection, I changed the Regional Domain on the card to Japan and successfully used channel 14. I was assuming this card stored the available channel info in the firmware of the card, not in the OS. (Is there a similar Regional Domain option in Linux to use channels 12-14? My output from iwlist ath0 channel shows only 1-11 being available.

When using channel 14, my data rate goes down to 11Mbps, but when I'm using channels 1-13, the data rate is 54Mbps. Any idea why? (The AP I'm using is a WRT54G)

I also have a Lucent Wavelan Silver that I'm trying to use on channels 12-14, but the same options as the WG511T are not available (Regional Domain), how can I use the Lucent on one of these channels?

Thanks for your help in figuring this stuff out,
m

The Lucent's settings are decidedly in firmware. You'll have to reflash the card. Search for the Alchemy program by Lincomatic.

I got alchemy to work after messing around with loading some older drivers. Thanks to Lincomatic for Alchemy, that was a lot easier than another method I read about that mentioned having to boot into dos mode.

As for WG511T in Linux, how can I access the upper channels using the madwifi driver?

I'm doing some googling now to try and figure this out, but if some knows maybe they can save me some time.

Thanks again,
m

You can't. Period.
