Changing Mac Addy

I'v done a search on spoofing mac addresses already and it seems its only talking about the ORiNOCO card. <like the bwmachak program by blackwave>

Is there any way to spoof the mac addy of a prism card (wpc11) on windowsXP?

If i missed a thread providing a link would be great. Thanx

yes, you can alter the MAC addr of any network card in XP, but it's tedious.

1) fire up regedit
2) find the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}
3) look thru the subkeys 1 by 1 until you find the one corresponding to the card you want to change
4) add a REG_SZ value called "NetworkAddress" and put your new MAC addr into it as hex digits without the "-" separators.
5) reboot or eject/reinsert the network adapter
6) use ipconfig /all to verify the new MAC addr

btw, it's in the FAQ:

Of course, if you're a script kiddi3 like me you can then create a .vbs file to generate a random MAC and set this to run every time you boot the laptop. (FE-ED-DE-AD-BE-EF is so passe.)

Digging up old threads is frowned upon, especially when you've got nothing new to add.

Sure, after you read all the rules in the Welcome desk. You then go out and purchase yourself a copy of MSVB. Be sure buy the appropriate books from your favorite book store on MSVB. Then you install the program and write yourself whatever you need.

It's that easy.
