Changing Region Settings on Prism NL-2511MP Plus

I have quite a few Senao Prism NL-2511MP Plus MiniPCI cards but unfortunatly they are all FCC regulated (Channels 1-11) I am in Ireland and use ETSI Regs (Channels 1-13) I have heard that there is a tool that can pull the PDA table off the card, modify it and put it back on. Does anybody know of this tool, or even better have the tool and are willing to e-mail it to me.

I think changing to the ESTI region may also lop off half of the 2511s power. The FCC 2511 is 200mW while the ESTI only allows 100mW to my knoledege. I think this what you are looking for.

Have a look at that frars page linked to above, more stuff may be gleamed from the wonderful seattlewireless page:

http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/SenaoCard

Here's some stuff I'm hosting. Mainly the frars stuff, minus the words.

Tried but failed

I tried the utilities on the friars site and keep getting error messages.

1) WARNING! PDA read from card was invalid, continue anyway?

2) WARNING! PDA changes will not take effect without station code, continue anyway?

It does say something on friars about using Compaq WL100 drivers which I have downloaded but when I install them (4 different drivers in package) I get the yellow "!" symbol and it states that the device could not be started.

Any more ideas.

I have sent you a private message Julesinalbans

You only need the Compaq WL100 drivers if the utility doesn't recognise your card. Can you run the utility without the drivers?

Yep, runs fine with the standard senao drivers but as soon as I run the update utility, before it opens it comes up with message 1 above. It does recognise the card but doesn't seem to be able to pull any info off of it.

Well, I don't know what to suggest. Maybe the fact that you're using a mini-PCI instead of a PSMCIA card is causing troubles, although, it shouldn't. What senao drivers are you using? You can get some dated the 13 of september, 2004, here. It could also be a firmware issue, but now I'm really clutching at straws...

The PDA does not update unless the station firmware is also updated, so you will have to hunt down a compatible frimware (I dont think some of the newest ones work) and update the firmware plus the pda and then it should work.
