Cheap antenna on eBay with LMR-100A cable?

heya,

Just wondering what people think of this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Antenna-7dbi-Mag...QQcmdZViewItem

It's a 7 dBi Omni WiFi antenna, with a 2 meter (6.5") LMR-100A cable. Worth it, do you think? OR would the gains be paltry?

Thanks,
Victor

Sweet find!

It should work excellent it looks like it has the matching coils in the antenna also. This should aid in pulling in those really distant signals.

I have bought from George before (cables/connectors etc). I have not checked his product line lately, looks like a nice selection of antenna's.

heya,

Interesting - so you think this is actually a good find?

One other question: I assume this antenna doesn't have a ground plane (at least it doesn't mention one). Roughly how much of an effect will this actually have? And is there any way to alleviate this, or to phsyicall add a ground plane to the antenna? (I don't want to have to find a car roof all the time...lol).

Also, thoughts on this?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/15-RP-SMA-or-T...QQcmdZViewItem

It's what looks like a 9dBi antenna for AP's, but they say they sell an adapter to MC-Card. ALthough, if you scroll down, there's a base available for a few dollars - do you think that is actually a ground plane?

Thanks,
Victor

Tht sort of antenna is probably a dipole (like many of the rubber duck type), which does not need a ground plane. Therefore the mount is only there to hold the antenna in place.
