Coax connector identification?
My 802.11b adapter has no external antenna port, and it is about as sensitive to wifi as an ethernet card. Basically it sucks.
I decided to take it apart and see what was inside. There are two tiny ceramic antennae, and between them is what looks to be a tinier surface-mounted coax connector. It is gold-colored, shiny, and around 1/8" square and a little shorter than that in the z-axis. The receptacle part is circular with no threading, and it has a conical black plastic liner on the inside, but I can see shiny metal at the bottom. Anyone know what kind of connector it is? I'd post a picture, but my camera is out of batteries, and I'd probably need a macro lens to show any useful detail. I would really appreciate the ability to connect and external omni to this thing, 'cause otherwise it is next to worthless. Thanks! |
