compact flash wifi adapters and old stuff
Here is a question for the group. I have looked all over google and found several compact flash cards but the information about them is dubious in regards to Windows CE os.
Here is what I want to accomplish: I have an old HP Jornada 430se that only runs Windows CE 2.11. I am looking for an 802.11b Type I compact flash(cf) card for the Jornada 430se. I have found several manufactures from this site http://www.cewindows.net/peripherals/cfwirelesslan.htm Some of the cards do list support for ce 2.11 but upon further review at some of the manufacture sites they say ce 3.0 or Jornada 52x. Has anyone gotten the Jornada 430se to work with a cf type I 802.11b card? Or does anyone know of a wifi type I cf card that works with windows ce 2.11? Why am I doing this? I want to turn the Jornada into a little wifi phone. I tested some sip software on the laptops with wifi and would like to try something smaller if I could. Finding a win ce 2.11 sip client is another hurdle ![]() I figured since I already have the Jornada and maybe some shareware sip software plus a cheap old or discontinued cf flash card that works with ce 2.11 for like 50 bucks I am good to go. Wifi phones are still expensive right now. I just want to test some basic voip over wireless capabilites and conduct some protocol analysis. Any help would be appreciated. Regards..

FYI update on progress
Just got the Ambicom 802.11b compat flash type I WL1100C-CF card to work in an old hp jornada 430se. This was the cheapest and probably the most compatible card found. It cost $69.00 but with a 20 buck rebate only 49. The other cards I was considering was the Pretec and the Netgear. A lot of folks on Amazon.com gave negative feedback on the Netgear MA701. So, luckily my first choice, Ambicom worked. I can access the internet and use vxutils as mentioned in a previous post. The software that comes with he Ambicom has a basic AP finder and basic SNR tools. Now if I can find a win ce 2.11 sniffer, spectrum analyzer(dreaming) and that soft phone I will be rocking. If Sjphone comes out with something for SH3 processor soon then I may have my little test wifi phone after all. Regards
