Question company setup

aight, im suposed to fix a wirless bridge we have becouse the guy that they have been contracting work out to doesnt know why its not working, and he left for vacation. :P i wana get it done befor he comes back.

we have 3 buildings

| A |

(note building A, has the point-of-presence)
(equiped with Cisco 340 Bridge, and a directional antenna)

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ (radio waves)

| B | | C |

B has a omni-directional, and C has directional. well as far as i know B is ROOT. but to me it made more sence for A to be ROOT. but since B and C are close to each other, and A is across town. Would it be better to make A ROOT still and then just have directional antenna's on top of them all? i dont know as far as that goes. i can configure them, just dont know. i know its alot of info. but didnt know if anyone was bored as i was and wanted to help out

note: they are not working at the moment, so it cant get much worse!

I'm assuming that B is somewhere in between A & C, in which case an omni at the central location makes sense, as it reduces the distance between the endpoints.

As for help with the Cisco gear - sorry never seen it

I've set a couple of systems up like you describe, so lets see what we can do....

Okay, first off, your root node should be located on the network that the remote networks are accessing. If all three points need to access each other, then the root should be on the network which has the network resources most commonly used (such and your internet gateway, servers, etc.). If these are located on network B, then that should be your root. Next point is, that whenever you have a multi point to single point system (such as yours), the root should have an omnidirectional antenna. Of course, you have to have line of sight between the building you're trying to bridge.

Now, am I correct in assuming that this hardware is already mounted?

allright. the most network resources are on A thats the problem. but from what i have done is taken all the items from their locations and brought them here to one location to set up. :P

so now. i just set it up (just 1 bridge) to act as an A.P, the signal strength (monitoring with my laptop) is high, wich make sence becouse its just in the other room. BUT, the signal QUALITY is CRAP. its like 6%-9%.

and i also found out that what i had thought was wrong. one of those locations just has a WNIC in it with a big ass antena. :P lol. now i duno what to do.

thanks for your help guys
