compaq wl110 card connector
I'm hoping that someone can help me.
Recently I purchased a compaq wl110 card and would like to use an external antenna. However I'm not sure what cable / connector to use from the antenna to the card itself. Can any one post a link? or give a part number or description of what kinda of connector I would need. Thanks chris |

Ditto Compaq Inquiry
I've found *one* reference on google to the Compaq WL110's interface:
http://www.csee.uq.edu.au/~mesh/list/msg00029.html Apparently this author says the interface is a SMA-RT (can anyone verify?) I popped the cap off on the end of the card and it indeed is a little round sucker that looks as if it would interface with my Raylink pigtail, but isn't quite right. Searching cable websites, I've found a lot of references to a right-angle SMA, which they occasionally refer to as a RT, but would have to believe this is a different critter. I see Nokia apparently has an SMA-RT - wonder if this would work: http://www.gwdata.com/cablesconnectors.htm Sidenote: I should have known better, but still, nix calling someone like Microwarehouse / Datacomwarehouse (warehouse.com) and asking for the pigtail for this card. I got a lecture (must be preprogrammed in their script) that part 15 cards never support "pigtails" because that'd allow you to use nonauthorized antennas. Oh, they'll sell you the official $110 compaq "booster antenna." *scoove* |

Still puzzled...
I'm looking at SMA connectors and I thought something was wrong with the advice posted that I referenced.
SMA connectors are much bigger than this little hole. I'd swear my Raylink pigtail comes close, but it's not quite right (yea, world of difference, but what's the expression - "If it doesn't fit, force it!"???) Tempting at least. This sucker can't be an SMA - my Icom T81 handheld is SMA. Reverse thread or not, it's much larger than this. Any thoughts out there folks? I like this Compaq card since it's supported by both Netstumbler and some of the linux stuff - might be a nice well-rounded solution. *scoove* |

compaq connector
As far as I know, these compaq cards are re-labeled lucent/
orinoco products. They use a proprietary connector mfg by lucent. The first link below is a picture of the Compaq range extender antenna....looks like a lucent antenna to me. http://www.compaq.com/products/wireless/wlan/options.shtml Here is a link to antennas/ pigtails for your card. http://www.hyperlinktech.com/web/cable_adapter.html |
