compatible cards with netstumbler for windows
hello,
i would run netstumbler on a laptop with windows XP... i saw that netstumbler only accepts : . agere orinoco . Compaq WL110 . Cabletron Roamabout . ELSA AirLancer . ARtem ComCard . 1stWave 1ST-PC-DSS11 . Buffalo Airstation WLI-PCM-L11 . Dell TrueMobile 1150 . Toshiba 802.11b Wireless Cards but i could not find them in computer shops in my town (Lyon - France) anyone know where to buy them in France ? So if i buy an other card (for exemple a 3com card with antenna or a d-link card ), will netstumblet work or not ? or what can i do else for using netstumbler with a wifi card (and what card should i choose ?) thanks. kha |

Well ideally you would want a card based on the Hermes chipset. Thos are the cards you listed. However most retail outlets to do not sell them.
However the newst version of NetStumbler supports SOME prism2 based cards in WindowsXP. Dlink DWL-650 I know it for sure, just search around the board I'm sure you can find something. |

and what about cards that have antenna such as 3com cards ?
is it an advantage ? And if i buy the Dlink DWL-650+, will this card work well with netstumbler, even if this card isn't listed in the list, and will it work as well as the other cards ? |

If I'm not mistaken, the D-Link DWL-650+ has a Texas Instruments chipset. I think all the D-Link cards with a '+' at the end of the model number have TI based chips which are supposed to allow 22mbps to other TI equipped gear.

I have found the Intel Pro 2011 card also woks. I have one of those in addition to an Orinoco Silver.
Here is a link to a thread in the FAQ which lists working prism cards: http://forums.netstumbler.com/showth...&threadid=3371
