creating a socket for an antenna on my dlink...
After reading the information on http://kevlar.burdell.org/~will/antenna/ I had an idea for a smaller, less obtrusive (and potentially less damaging) connector.
Before I attempt this I would like to get some more informed opinions. I had the idea of taking a 1/4, 1/8, or 3/32 headphone type socket (mono preferrably): http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=274%2D249 http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...Fid=910%2D0730 http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...Fid=910%2D0814 http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...Fid=910%2D0765 And using that as a method to attach an external antenna. One conductor to an antenna, the other to ground (one unused, or maybe to the other antenna for two if it's a stereo jack?), and adding a proper plug to whatever I want to use with it. It'd stick out of the existing shell, but that isn't of much concern. Is such a connection feasable, wiring and signal carrying wise? |
