D-Stink DI-524 WPA Issues
We have a D-Stink DI-524 here at work (not my choosing) which I recently changed from WEP to WPA-PSK. No connection issues with WEP, but once I enabled WPA the connection is intermittent. It'll work for a few minutes, then disconnect/connect randomly for a few minutes, then work a few minutes more. Not exactly the sort of connectivity you want.
I've searched the forums here, as well as Google, and several D-Link support forums, but haven't found anything yet. Are there any known issues that I'm obviously not aware of? I'll probably have to end up changing back to WEP if this problem continues.

I have the same router here at home. A few nights ago I put the lastest greatest firmware on it. After doing that I changed from WEP to WPA-PSK. My wifes laptop would not connect (don't remmeber which internal mini-pci it has). My laptop with an Intel PRO 220BG connected up but goes really slow.
Many of our client sites use Linksys WRT54GS', WRV54Gs or WRT54GXs. All the machines at those sites have Linksys client cards and can use WPA-PSK just fine. Also my Intel PRO 2200BG connects to the Linksys WPA-PSK without a decrease in performance. Needless to say I had to switch back to WEP at home. Hope it helps some. Justin |

Fyi
I know this is an old thread but Google brought me here in a futile effort to find a solution, so...
I just wanted to add that I absolutely cannot get WPA-PSK to function between my DI-524 and Atheros AR5001X+ internal card. It scares me to use WEP because I'm surrounded by IBM interns and employees in my town home subdivision. I can see 13 other secure and un-secure Wi-Fi networks from my Lazyboy and I don't like the idea of someone cutting their WEP cracking teeth on my network. D-STINK ![]() |

Consider trying WPA2 using AES. So far I've have good luck with that on a variety of equipment including DLink.
It may require firmware upgrades.

Firmware is up to date: DI-524= 3.20 Ver_C Atheros client= 2.4.2.18 AR5001X+= 2.4.2.14 The really frustrating part is that the Atheros utility says it's connected but it won't pull an IP. I think I'm done trying though, 8+ hours is more than I wanted to spend on WPA. I'll just stick with WEP + MAC filtering + No Broadcast, if they want my connection that bad they will get it no matter what I've got setup. |

Besides, I don't think the ends justify the means, or if it's even possible with my hardware. |
