The deluo GPS
Hey!
I saw the other thread about it, but i have some questions I could not find the answer to there (I am not fluent in english, so it would be better if someone could just tell me the answer). www.deluo.com Should I get the USB or serial version? Does it work good with the english version of Map Point? Does it work good with NS? Can someone give me reason NOT to buy this product (apart from it not being as "cool" as a Garmin)

Does anybody know if the USB deluo will work under linux? I thought I read somewhere that this unit simply has a builtin usb to serial converter and that there were linux drivers floating about somewhere...
I've got a sony sr17, and it only has 1 usb port and 1 pcmcia port... (pcmcia port is used by orinoco card) sPLURge |

Just to follow up, I went ahead and ordered one of the deluo USB GPS units. After 3 days, it showed up USPS priority mail, and is now functioning perfectly with zero configuration/recompilation under redhat7.3...
I plugged it in, and it was immediately assigned to the usbserial device of /dev/ttyUSB0... After checking it with minicom and starting gpsd on /dev/ttyUSB0, I'm happily running kismet/gpsdrive/xspeedometer simultaneously and without any dongles for power or serial connectivity. If anybody is interested, I'll post some of the maps generated from kismet/gpsmap on my site after I collect a little bit more data. sPLURge http://www.amarillowireless.net |
