It says on the unit Ver: B1/1A
got me? Firmware is V4.59 More specifically how do I prevent someone from gaining access to my network? I changed the SSID on the unit and enabled 164bit WEP, but I can still get on the network with a pc card that has no encription enabled and SSID of ANY. That should not be, correct? E |

OK, so this is normal then? I make a unique SSID, enable WEP then someone can still get on the network without knowing the SSID or WEP?? Without sniffing anything out or decripting anything?? If thats the case what is the SSID and WEP for? I'm not worried about stoping everyone, I'm just wondering if this is how it is.

You want to blank out your SSID. You want to disable your AP from broadcasting its presense. You want to filter your MACs on your network. You want to disable DHCP. You want to enable WEP. You want to VPN anything going over the air. </SPOONFEED>

Thgis what I just recieved from DLink:
Re: Email ID 31603 Thank you for contacting D-Link Priority Tech Support Team! This is what we have discovered since your last email, The only way is to have the power disconnected from the router. Should you require further assistance with your D-Link products, please feel free to send us another message. Your comments and suggestions are welcome. When networking a home, office or corporate infrastructure choose D-Link products and go wireless at: www.dlink.com Sincerely, Francisco The Priority Technical Support Team Disclaimer: You are receiving this email because you have filled out a support form or contact our support department and agreed to our terms and condition. We at Dlink only use your email address for internal use. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Orignal Message xxxxxxxxxxx Hello, How can I set the router to only accept "shared key" encryption. I changed the SSID and enabled 128WEP, restarted the router, unpowered the router and yet if I have a wireless nic set to 'ANY' with no encryption enabled I can still access my network. Is there a way to disable 'open' access? Thank You, <SNIP> However it now does not accept unencrypted nics. E |

dlink's tech support SUCKS! i asked them how to disable the diversity on a DI713P and they said "sorry it's not designed to take external antennas."
so i replied by saying "so you mean i can't even connect dlink brand antennas to it?" (this WAP has rev-SMA connectors on the back). so now they say they've forwarded it to their senior engineers... they need senior engineers to figure out how to hook up a %$#^ antenna????
