Yes.
Rename the old version to the current version; then upload.

Unfortunately it doesn't work! I tried renaming old firmaware and it still won't accept it. Maybe it needs 100% accurate filename? Can you send me to what did you rename? Thanx!

1) Rename the v1.07 firmware from "WAP11v26upgrade_v1.07.rom" to something else such as "WAP11v26upgrade_v1.07.old"

2) Rename the v1.06 firmware file from "WAPv26_v1.06_111402" to "WAP11v26upgrade_v1.07.rom"

3) Perform the upload.

4) Perform a hard reset: Hold the reset button while pulling the power plug. While continuing to hold the button, leave the power out for 10 seconds. Reapply power, still holding the button. After the Activity lights starts blinking, release the button.

5) Log into the web page, and check the version number. The user name will be blank, and the password will be "admin"

6) Re-enter all your parameters.

Don't forget to rename the files back to the original names, or it will be confusing in the future.

Not off hand. That's always worked for me. Is there an error message that might help? Something like "Incorrect file name" or "Bad CRC"?

It just reports something like "The page cannot be found" since it is a web browser. No other error messages, like corrupt file or anything else....

I assume the path is correct... Just out of curiousity, will it allow you to reflash using the current rom image; WAP11v26upgrade_v1.07.rom? That might confirm that the upload page is at least finding the directory on the PC.

You can try Linksys tech support, but send email, don't call. The call center people can't figure out which way is up, never mind helping with real technical issues.

Excellent idea! I will try it as soon as I get home from work. Thank you!

Correction - my friend with the same problem tried that - and it works - he can flash new (current 1.07) firmware as many times he likes, but as soon he renames the old one and tries to flash it, the error is displayed.

Linksys must have changed something with this release. Renaming worked on other downgrades I've done, (but you did have to be exact.) You might want to look at the Singapore site. They seem to put some of the advanced software there. There may be someother versions there that will help.

Hello guys

I had the same problem .... and all it was is that it was not the right version of the firmware ( WAP11 has 3 or more different versions ) just use that one that is appropriate for your AP.

Hello, I have a very similar problem, my device is WAP11 v2.6, I flashed it with WAP11v26upgrade_v1.07.rom, and since that it is not responding properly. It is not allowing me to change settings, as soon as I try doing that I get the message "The page cannot be displayed" using IE 6. I cannot flash the firmware again even with the same version as I get the same error message "The page cannot be displayed". I tried the hardware reset using different methods one of which the one described here, nothing changes and the interesting part is that after hardware reset and power down the device still keeps the MAC address table and the IP ??? Please help I am really concerned, I also tried using tftp to upload the firmware again but just receive "server error"

Did you flash it over the wireless or over the wired connection. If you did it over Wireless, chances are it's fucked.

Contact Linksys Tech support.

Contact Linksys Tech support.
If Linksys Tech Support can't help , then just throw it away. You can get a new WAP11 or BEFW11S4 for $5 after rebates. With the costs that low, it's not worth screwing around with these things.

By the way, with threads where the last response in older than a year, please start a new thread as stated in the Welcome Desk.
