Duel Adapter

Anyone using a duel adapter? (express to pcmcia) I tried running it with my orinoco card and it just kept locking up my laptop no matter what I tried. It runs great with my ubiquiti card. I got drivers directly from proxim as I haven't used to orinoco in quite some time . Think the date on the driver was 2003 or something. Ill look for a different driver and see if I can get it to work with the orinoco and post the back.

Been there done that (without the lockups). Are you trying to use both adapters? I have ran 3 at once, 2 PC card and one USB.

You didn't happen to notice if NetStumbler reported an error?

Orinoco Error 0004 or 0005 perhaps?

Does it lock with just the Orinoco card? If not then it's not a driver problem (Orinoco driver at least).

Last time I used Duel adapters, I only heard this. http://www.wavsource.com/snds_2007-0...nce/duel_y.wav

Of course, you might mean Dual adapters.

I think he meant one of these.

I didn't even know such a thing existed.

Apparently these have just hit the market recently. I have been waiting about 4 weeks till they started shipping. All you guys stuck with the new express card slots......here is what you have been waiting for. Like I said earlier it is working great with the ubiquiti doing about 3/4 mile right now with 100% signal and a couple of directionals on base and considering the amount of concrete walls here that aint to shabby.
Still no luck with the Orinoco gonna get after that a little more in the morning.

It's probably quite simple to make such a thing..

Standard PCCard-PCI bridge chipset and PCI-ExpressCard bridge chipset connected back to back.
My guess is that the device shows up both as a ExpressCard, and as a PCCard/PCMCIA bridge in the devicemanager.

Question of drivers, I'd say..
The driver for the ExpressCard side has to intercept any calls for the PCCard/PCMCIA I/O and vector the calls through to the PCCard bridge.

Call and ask Duel System.

Might be they'd need a Mac tester.

One thing you might want to note, is that considering you're not using a supported card, the signal strength is wrong.

If you got that using the Orinoco, then that'd be correct but usually when it's 100% at 3/4 of a mile, that usually tells us you're using an unsupported card.

The concrete walls to boot kind of says something.

No need to be an asshole about it. Says "Duel" right across the front of it not dueladapter.
I apologize if my incorrect naming of the product caused you to embarrass yourself in some way. Maybe you should go out in the sun for a little bit and lay off of the caffeine.
