mish,

since the schematics don't show what we need, pls post zoomed in pics of the areas around the A1 & A2 pads so i can get a better view of where the traces go around them.

from the photo so far, it seems like you can just solder the antenna connections directly to those pads, but i'm not sure if C97 is essential for A2 or not.

actually, if you're not interested in diversity, you can probably get away w/ just attaching your antenna connections at A1, since i don't see any unpopulated pads around there. you could always give it a go first and see what kind of performance you get before trying to dig in further.

the 2 large pads are ground, and the small blob near the C94/C43 markings is *probably* where the signal is.

C97 is essential for A2 and C94 is essential for A1 - look closely you can have C37 or C94, but not both - one of the pads is common.

the problem is it's so fuzzy i can't make out the traces @ the top. i guess all he needs to do is hook up @ A1 and ignore A2 (assuming C94 is currently populated)?

Thanks waldo - that shows clearly what I was saying - C37 & C94 share a solder pad, you can have one or the other, and in this case C37 is present - it should be fairly simple to unsolder & resolder it though - if you have a steady hand and a fine tipped soldering iron.

ok, NOW i can see what you're talking about. i concur ... move it over to C94 bec A1's signal pin is open otherwise.

One last off topic here.

mish,

I'm not trying to be critical of your upload but rather point out the waste of bandwidth. 600 dpi is a waste for just viewing on your/our monitor. 72 is generally the highest you need for viewing on a monitor. Now if you plan on printing the image then by all means pack in the dpi. Your 2.2meg .bmp is really no better than the pic I posted (for viewing on a monitor). I have also taken the 2.2 megger and dropped it to 72 and it can be viewed here at 92KB. Also if you can convert to jpeg as bmp's are hogs! I hope this helps with the confusion.

WW

When you say zoom do you mean increase the image (canvas) size or crop to a selection? I always like to save the initial image with as much resolution as possible. I always edit the image for the intended application. For the web or viewing on monitor I use 72ish 99% of the time. Had you of saved your 2 meg file (in MS Paint) as a jpg the size would have been about 73K. This is a canvas increase and crop. The file size is about 80K. Bottom line, edit for application and for the web save as a jpg for general viewing.
