Etrex GPS hacks page
While browsing around garmin/etrex sites tonight discovered this site.
http://etrex.webz.cz/hack.html Thought it may be interesting to some of you guys out there who seem to use this popular unit. I havent tried any of the suggestions as I only just ordered my etrex online tonight. all the best....Paul

yeah thats the one. saw a few people like eyecannon were using them . I ordered mine as it was a good price and seems to work well for those who have it. I see they do one called a gecko now even smaller. they work well with ham radios too.

yeah be careful though, It looks like it works through the firmware upgrade and the hacks are for the basic etrex so it could stuff up the gecko. There must be a similar routine for the gecko though, you guys seem quite good with coding and hacks so may figure it out.
Will be opening my copy of drive by wi-fi tomorrow, parcel is sittinghere on the shelf ready for breakfast tomorrow (my birthday hehe)

Very cool page. Thanks for the link. I also use the eTrex "yellow" (not to be confused with Fedora Yarrow...which I would rather lose a hand than use).

Cheers chris, BTW looked on amazon UK and the Wardriving book is listed here in the UK for April release. Cant wait to add another book to the collection, oh and thanks for bringing yet another book to our attention, the hacking everyday objects, although im no great tamperer I made a gadget out of a magazine once that read the chips on telephone cards & still like to read about modding stuff. Dont think i,lltry the mods straight away my gps will still be in the honeymoon period!!!!!!
you know? when you buy a new toy and dont like to rock the boat or do anything to upset it , untill you get the measure of it, then after that your'e thinkin, maybe if I do this or alter this doohickey here it will be a little better.
