Expert evaluators wanted.
I am just trying to extend my RG-1000 range with a couple home brews.
The omni was built from here: http://www.geocities.com/lincomatic/collinear.html I was located indoors about 30 feet from the RG with 2 walls in the line of site with the RG. Here are my few questions: 1. What does the red mean? 2. What does the green mean? 3. Is this a typical gain with the respective antennas? Thanks |

2) Green is signal. 3) Omni is only giving you about 2-3dB gain. It looks like you'll need to do it over. It should be higher. It also appears to be losing the signal at times. You may have something loose or shorting. Pringles seems to be about 8-10dB, which is about right.

sky_nazi,
looks like you did something wrong in assembling the collinear omni. that's the kind of lousy performance i got when i did it wrong. now that it's right, i'm getting 8-10dB increase over the built in. also, try the omni both horizontal and vertical. if the polarization is off the gain goes way down.
