Fab-Corp panel antenna...

I currently attend Iowa State University, and there is a ton of wi-fi floating around. However, the people who originally built the wireless networks that are outdoors built them during the Fall, no leaves! So when the leaves grew back, their claims of a 100% networked campus became claims of 25-50% networked. So this leads me to my problem. I like being outdoors with my laptop and orinoco card. While my cantenna greatly increases the speed and/or coverage I can get, it doesn't provide me with out space. So when I saw that 19dB panel antenna Fab-Corp had, I was instantly interested. If I can buy that and just leave it in my backback, then I can go anywhere. Is this really a feasible idea? I couldn't find specs like weight on the website, but how much is 19dB going to get me?

I have FAB-Corps 18db patch. I have managed to hit ap up to 5 miles away with it with my cisco card. It is a very good investment.
