Faulty Antenna?

I have an Orinoco 8470-WD Gold Card w/ an Atheros Chipset.

The card has a MC connector for an external antenna. The antenna I have has a Female-N connector type. I bought the appropriate cables and connect the card to the antenna via the cable...

There is no improvement whatsoever in the range. I Have the antenna sitting on the floor since I have no had the time to mount it on a wall. It is a 12dBi antenna that is built for the outdoors. It is about 3 feet tall. It is manufactured by hyperlink technologies? Does this sound like a faulty antenna or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Where is your antenna in relation to the Access point you're accessing?

You are really testing the range of the antenna in this manner?

But the ants and termites in your floor are now glowing

I would say find time to mount that antenna at least 10-12 feet up or higher (20-30 feet would be nice)

Nah, let him mount it as close to him as he wants to. He'll be removing himself and his wife/girlfriend/lover/nothingness from the gene pool for us.

3 Feet away...

And yes... is it really hard to believe the antenna is sitting on the floor since I have not had time yet to drill holes in my wall to mount an antenna?

Well, uh, gee, I wonder what the problem could be?

Maybe receiver saturation since you have a 12db antenna in the same bleedin' room only 3 feet away?

Dictionary.com, Dumbass...

Either you meant "armature", but I don't do homemovies about rotating parts of a dynamo, moving parts of electromagnetic devices, pieces of soft iron connecting the poles of a magnet, protective coverings, structures, or organs of an animal or a plant, or frameworks serving as a supporting core for clay sculpture.
Or you meant "amateur", but there's nothing amateurish about my homemovies either...
And NO G8t, you can't see them...

Doh! I was overdue for one of those...

The dictionary comment - not a movie showing animal organs. I have one of those already.

You don't have "Large Eastern European Crossdressing Goats doing G8t's Unit" do you?

I heard it was a big hit.
