Garmin eTrex Cables......
Hey !
I found this site... http://www.pfranc.com These guys make a custom Garmin cable that will give you the pin to supply power to the GPS unit. If you get a USB to serial adapter all you need is 2 diodes which he shows you on that site and then one of his cables and a 9 pin 1.99$ part from RadioShnack. Then .. You can get the power to the unit. I just got this finished and its very awesome ... I don't think it will charge the batteries in the GPS but it does power it up. Its really awesome. Because I use a POS Toshiba laptop, No serial ports. This is awesome. There is a way to get that kind of power from a regular serial port. But its harder and I am still working that out. Check it out and let me know what you guys are doing for powering the GPS units..... (I do not work for them ... just incase someone wondered) ![]() |
