Is this a good antenna to use?

Hey, I'm new to wardriving (mainly because I finally just got a laptop). And I recently got a Cisco AIR-LMC350 card to use. I want to know if the antenna I have will work okay.

The antenna is a Intermec 065349. Here are some specs I was able to find:

Antenna, 2.4GHz 9dBi Omni
FCC
ETSI
Can use in Europe for Open Air, DS, or High Rate
Open Air - Antenna must be used with minimum 40' antenna cable or a 20' minimum antenna cable and splitter
DS or High Rate, must be used with minimum 20' antenna cable
Gain 9 DBI
Azimuth Plane 360° Elevation/Vertical Plane 14°

I made an adapter cable for it so I could use it on my old Linksys B AP and it seemed to work fine but i never did any tests to see how well it worked.
The cheapest price I was able to find it for on the net was around $300 so it's probably a decent antenna.
Thanks!

It's designed to work with an industrial AP, not a mobile application. If it works for you, and you're happy with it, then OK, but judging from the specs your performance may not be the best. Specifically this line is telling:
"DS or High Rate, must be used with minimum 20' antenna cable"

Thorn,

Does that mean that they specifically tuned it to use that length? And that possibly the SWR is dependant upon that length? Anything shorter than that could possibly increase the SWR to the point of final failure?

Just asking, seems like that's why they'd make that statement.

That would be my guess. Otherwise I'm not sure why they would specify a minimum cable length. Due to the power level being so low on most mobile cards, the SWR would probably not make the final stage actually burn out. Most likely degraded performace would be worst case. But would I run it on my card? No.

Thanks for the info!

I guess this means I'll be selling the antenna on ebay.
