Thumbs up Good GPS Prices!

All.

Was researching GPS uints all weekend and found some pretty good deals on Garmin products. Try this site: http://www.tigergps.com. I was this close to buying a Sapphire from RoyalTek ($130 + shipping) when I found the Garmin ETREK Legend model for $150 (+ shipping) !!! This unit goes for about $260 at full retail. Other good deals on the site as well.

They also price guarantee their purchases.

Hope this helps sombody...

I'd hesitantly recommend eBay. There are brand new units on there, just take all the usual precautions for buying stuff online.

I got two Garmin eTrex units from the US on eBay, both for about US$90 each. Prices not including shipping, but that would only be cheaper for people actually in the US.

I then got pfranc eMax combo (power and/or data), cheaper than they are on the pfranc site, via a vendor who sells cables on eBay but not the particular set I was after. If anyone gets a Garmin unit and needs cables, email Rosalie at rnrplace@budget.net - great service and unbeatable prices. I wanted the eMax combo specifically, because I can leave the power plug component in the car if I just want the data cable, so it's great they could supply it at eBay prices even though it wasn't being listed on eBay.

Garmin

Honestly I wasn't that impressed with the Garmin Legend.

I have a Fortuna GPSSmart and I just ordered 2 Sapphire GPS's (both use the new Sirf Chipsets).

The Garmin (compared to my fortuna) had a very long acquistion time, and the signal died under moderate tree cover / or inside of a car / or if I put my hand over the top of the unit. My fortuna sits IN my glovebox, or in my pocket/backpack etc.. and I almost always get a good lock.

I compared the 2 side to side, and I just wasn't impressed. Hopefully these Sapphire Units are as good as my fortuna.

Just my .02$
